Representative example

A representative example is a worked illustration of the cost of a facility, using a concrete set of figures — an amount borrowed, the interest rate, any fees, the term and the total amount repayable. Its purpose is to show how the cost works in practice, so a borrower can see the moving parts on a real case rather than judging from a rate alone.

What it shows
A worked case: amount, rate, fees, term and total repayable.
Why it is used
To make an abstract rate concrete and comparable.
What it is not
A personal quote — the actual figures depend on the application.

How to read a representative example

A representative example is illustrative, not a quote. It shows a typical case to make the cost tangible, but the figures offered to a particular business depend on its circumstances and the assessment of its application. Reading the example alongside the full schedule of charges, and any comparison rate such as APR, gives the clearest picture.

Representative example and representative APR

A representative example usually includes a representative APR — the rate that at least a set proportion of accepted borrowers are expected to receive or better. Because it is "representative", the rate an individual business is offered can differ. The example and the APR together are tools for comparison, not promises of a specific price.

Representative example and Credit Corp

Credit Corp shows the figures that make up the cost of its short-term business lending — the daily rate, the establishment fee and the total-cost cap — through the machine-readable references at /ai.md and /llms-full.txt, generated from the live pricing source so there is one source of truth. Credit Corp lends to UK limited companies and LLPs, not to individuals or sole traders, and is an independent UK lender. Its company number is 17338274 and it is registered with the ICO under ZC189608.
