What this guide covers
Most UK directors do not realise how much free help is available. This guide is a practical directory of where to turn.
- Free, public — the gov.uk Business Support Finder, the British Business Bank Finance Hub, the HMRC Business Support Helpline, Companies House free company alerts, and Citizens Advice.
- Free, charitable — Business Debtline and StepChange for debt advice, the FSB member helpline, the Prince's Trust Enterprise programme, and Be the Business mentoring.
- Region-specific — Local Growth Hubs in England, Business Wales, Business Gateway in Scotland, and Invest Northern Ireland.
- Paid, professional — chartered accountant and tax-adviser directories (ICAEW, ACCA, CIOT), the Law Society's find-a-solicitor service, and mediation services such as CEDR.
- When to use which — HMRC first for tax, Business Debtline first for debt, Citizens Advice first for a legal dispute, and the Finance Hub first for funding. Free help is almost always the right place to start.

If money is tight with Credit Corp
If repayment with us specifically is becoming difficult, our help with payments page sets out options that do not require you to involve a third party. We also signpost free, independent debt advice such as Business Debtline.
